Everyone starting tertiary education for the first time in 2018 will get one year full-time study fees free.

The government has confirmed it will implement the new approach for 2018. The policy, which will be phased in over several years, begins with one year of free post-secondary study to anyone who has not previously enrolled in tertiary education.

We've been getting some enquiries about what the policy will mean for AUT students. As the new government is still sorting out the details, we advise students to keep using the current processes in the meantime.

StudyLink is encouraging prospective students to apply by 16 December and to provide their supporting documents promptly to ensure their applications are sorted for the start of the 2018 academic year.

When more details about the policy have been confirmed, we will provide updated information about what this will mean. In the meantime, you can take the first steps to study here: aut.ac/2z3a5mM
